Research

Tansy:

  • Tansy; Tanacetum vulgare is used in folk medicine as a vermifuge. The definition of vermifuge: an agent that destroys or expels parasitic worms :anthelmintic.
  • According to Herbal Resource "Tansy is an herbal remedy for treating worms as it contains a volatile oil with the active ingredients thujone, camphor and myrtenol, which are toxic to internal parasites."

Wormwood:

  • The abstract of this study says: "Artemisinins are derived from extracts of wormwood (Artemisia annua) and are well established for the treatment of malaria, including highly drug-resistant strains. Their efficacy also extends to phylogenetically unrelated parasitic infections such as schistosomiasis."
  • Nationl Institutes of Health Article says; "Artemisinins are derived from extracts of sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua) and are well established for the treatment of malaria, including highly drug-resistant strains. Their efficacy also extends to phylogenetically unrelated parasitic infections such as schistosomiasis."
    • "Artemisinins are also active against phylogenetically unrelated parasites, such as the single-celled kinetoplastids and metazoan helminths."

Black Walnut:

  • One of the key active components of the black walnut hull is juglone. It's highly toxic to many insect herbivores.
  • It is often used by organic gardeners as a natural pesticide
  • Researchers have observed that black walnut can expel parasitic worms from the body.
    • Phytotherapy Research found that juglone showed support of black walnut’s benefits in helping to expel intestinal parasites.
    • A 2008 study identified types of wood that were resistant to the Emerald ash borer (Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire) (Coleoptera: Buprestidae), an invasive pest that eats the inner bark of trees. The study found that ash borers that normally fed and developed on ash logs had no larvae and were not able to survive, grow, or develop on any black walnut trees or logs. This suggest or maybe confirms the folk lore claim that Black Walnut is toxic to parasites.

Is there really a problem with parasite infections in the United States?

The answer is YES!

A parasite is an organism that lives on or in a host organism and gets its food from or at the expense of its host. There are three main classes of parasites that can cause disease in humans: protozoa (one celled - giardia, plasmodiim - sometimes transferred through fecal matter), helminths (worms), and ectoparasites (fleas, ticks lice, mites, mosquitoes).

  • We tend to think of parasites as being a third world problem and in our clean, sanitary environment we don’t need to worry.
  • The truth is our world is changing and these changes make us much more susceptible to parasites now than we were in the past.
    • One change is that many more people are traveling to countries where these parasites are common; some areas of the world have as much as 100% infestation.
    • Another change is the importing of food from many of these same countries, with both events bringing unwelcome, microscopic visitors, who don’t require a travel visa. They are the real illegal aliens!
    • The largest causes are the contaminants we are now exposed to in our food, water and our surroundings.
    • Sometimes, the eggs and larvae of these parasites just pass through or they are killed by our amazing immune system.
      • Weakened immune systems will somtimes allow parasites to establish themselves in the body.
        • Supplementation is a good answer to parasites getting past the immune system.
  • The damage done by parasites to the human body has a wide range from blood loss to diarrhea, and many other health issues.

Some shocking facts about parasites:

  • World-wide, the numbers are staggering, an estimated 1.4 Billion people have intestinal parasite infections.
  • There are an incredible 500,000 varieties of worms in this world.
  • 500 million people have malaria, from a parasite distributed through mosquitoes, 200 million with Schistosomiasis, and so on.
  • Colon therapists have reported as much as 90% infection rate as they witness firsthand these parasites leaving the intestines during colon therapy.
  • Most parasites live in a toxic bowel, but can live in almost any part of the body.
How do people get parasite infections?

There are a number of ways to contract a parasite. Most people believe that the only way is to drink or bathe incontaminated water from an underdeveloped country. It's true that this is a common source of parasites but it's not the only source. Parasites are also found in undercooked meat, unclean or contaminated fruits and vegetables, and lakes, ponds, or creeks. Parasites live everywhere and are just lying in wait to find a new host. Since we live around people who travel the world over and we have restaurants and grocery stores that stock their food supplies from just about anywhere in the world it's possible to contract parasites in places that you would never believe possible.

How do I know if I have been infected by parasites?

This is acomplex question. Parasites can mimick so many other types of diseases that it can be difficult to diagnose. As an example a person might present with a rash that is itchy and scaly. Most doctors would assume that this is a case of eczema. It is likely that treating the eczema with a cream might help but if the rash comes from a parasite infection the cream will only give a little temporary relief and the rash will grow to be bigger and stronger. This is simalr to candida in that way. There are a few key symptoms that you should pay attention to if you think that you might have been exposed to a parasitic infection.
  • Constipation, diarrhea, gas, or other symptoms of IBS.
    • If these symptome come without cause you might try a parasite cleanse to resolve the issue.
    • If these symptoms present themselves after traveling or making a diet change time will take care of the issue.
  • Trouble falling asleep or wake up multiple times during the night.
    • Believe it or not parasites can be slightly irritating which may cause some sleeplessness.
  • Skin irritation or unexplained rash, hives, rosacea, or eczema
    • One of the most likely infections in this situation is a round worm. It definately needs to be treated right away.
  • Pain or aching in your muscles or joints.
    • Sure aches and pains come with aging but parasites use the nutrients that was meant for your health then leave you with their waste as a replacement. This may cause some of those aches and pains.
  • Fatigue, exhaustion, depression, or frequent feeling of apathy.
    • Similar to the aches and pains. Stealing your nutrients and giving back their waste robs you of the vitality that you might have had.
  • Never feeling satisfied or full after your meals.
    • Digestive parasites are the most common of all. They are averice consumers of all that you would feed them. Some parasites actually send signals making you think that you are hungry just so that they can steel more of that nutrition that you are so desperately in need of.
  • Traveled internationally and remember getting traveler’s diarrhea while abroad.
    • You never know what's in the water, vegetables, meats that is consumed in other countries. After travel to other countries is a great time to cleanse.
  • If you have been the victim if food poisoning and your digestion has not been the same since.
    • Parasite might be at the root of this issue!

I'm convinced

I read about the parasite issues and wondered it some of my stomach issues came from parasites. I think that it must have. I started with a bottle and noticed a difference in my energy level. I got the other 2 bottles to finish the cleanse and am convinced that these guys are right. Everybody should do this at least once a year. I'm going to!
