Setting expectations

What to expect

Herbs work gently and gradually. Here's the honest timeline.

Days 1–3
Start at the suggested serving — about 6 capsules a day, as directed on the label. Drink plenty of water. Most people notice nothing dramatic at first, and that's normal.
Week 1–2
Keep the timing consistent — herbs reward routine more than intensity.
Week 3–4
One bottle covers about 17 days at the suggested serving. Most people finish a full bottle before judging results — which is why two bottles is the most popular option.

Since 1979

Forty-five years of the same formulas

Grandma's Herbs began in 1979 in St. George, Utah, when Master Herbalist Joseph VanSeters started making natural remedies from time-honored herbal knowledge — six formulas, on a kitchen counter.

Four decades later they're still made the same way, in the same place, by the same family. The tagline has never changed either: “Because They Work.”

Health Information

This unique Blood Cleanser formula contains a blend of herbs traditionally used to support the body's natural cleansing and detoxification processes.*

What is a blood Cleanse?

A blood cleanse refers to a process that supports the natural functions of the liver and kidneys, which are responsible for filtering the blood. Supplements marketed for blood cleansing are designed to support the body’s normal detoxification processes.*

Why is it important to cleanse?

Daily life often exposes individuals to a variety of substances from the environment, including those found in food, air, and water. The liver and kidneys serve as the body’s primary filtering organs, constantly working to process and remove waste and impurities.*

Supporting these efforts through a balanced lifestyle, including healthy dietary choices and proper hydration, can help the body perform its natural functions effectively. Some people may choose to incorporate traditional herbs or supplements into their routine as part of a wellness regimen aimed at digestive and filtering system health.*

You may benefit from considering ways to support your body's natural detoxification processes. Certain herbal supplements are formulated to support overall wellness by promoting healthy liver function, aiding in digestion, and supporting the body’s natural ability to eliminate waste.*

Research

Plantain:

During the fifteen hundreds and sixteen hundreds plantain was listed as one of the nine sacred herbs in the ancient Lacnunga, a collection of Anglo-Saxon medical texts.*

It was used for many different health concerns by many cultures throughout the world.*

The Native Americans believed that it cleansed the digestive tract.*

There are many studies of plantain, suggesting that unripe plantain may have potential benefits in supporting healthy kidney and liver function. Further research is needed to fully understand its effects.*

Burdock Root:

In traditional herbal texts, burdock root is described as a “blood purifier” or “alterative” and was believed assist in cleansing the bloodstream and supporting filtering organs like the kidney and liver.*

In the book; Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Phyllis A. Balch, CNC and James F. Balch, M.D. Burdock Root is described as a: " ...  antioxidant, capable of scavenging hydrogen peroxide and superoxide radicals. It also showed a scavenging effect against hydroxyl." Burdock is also traditionally used to promote healthy liver and gall bladder function.*

Red Clover:

As with alfalfa, Red Clover sends its roots far into the ground. This makes it possible for it to draw upon an abundance of minerals. Due to its high content of several important nutrients, including vitamins and minerals, it has become a dependable nutritive supplement.*

Herbalists believed that red clover "purified" the blood by acting as a diuretic (helping the body get rid of excess fluid) and promoting healthy liver function.*

Chaparral:

  • Historically, Native Americans made tea from the leaves of this plant as part of their traditional practices to support overall health.*
  • Chaparral is a very viable and useful herb with plenty of bitter compounds to assist in the blood cleansing process.*
  • The leaves contain nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA), a compound with antioxidant properties. NDGA is being studied for its potential support of overall health and well-being, though further research is needed to fully understand its role in supporting health.*
  • Chaparral contains several different lignans and flavonoids that are being studied for their potential role in supporting the immune system.*
